Rose to fame as a renowned classical principle dancer and has performed with prestigious dance companies, both in Europe and the United States. Mr. Vassiliev was worked with some of the best choreographers of the 21st century, including: John Neumeier, Uwe Scholz, Jiry Kilian, and William Forsythe. Mr. Vassiliev has also traveled, intensively, as a guest principal dancer to Japan, Italy, Amsterdam, Denmark, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, London, and USA.

In 1989, as a young protégé full of potential and a promising future, Mr. Vassiliev began training in one of the most prestigious ballet schools in Russia, the Perm Academy Ballet School.

1997 Mr. Vassiliev was awarded the 1st prize placement in one of the biggest junior competitions in the world, the “Prix de Lausanne” in Switzerland.  After that, he studied with the legendary dancer and teacher Anatoli Nisnevich, who was the former student of Alexander Pushkin and partner of legendary ballerina, Natalia Makarova. Soon after, Mr. Vassiliev became a principal dancer with the Russian Opera and Ballet Theater.

In 1999, Mr. Vassiliev was invited to Germany to work with the Hamburg Ballet and Leipziger Ballet.  There, he was exposed to new work, style and choreography. The choreographers include: Jiry Kilian, “Sinfonietta” and “Symphony in D”; William Forsythe, “In the Middle Somewhat Elevated “; John Neumeier, “Hamlet”, “La Dame aux Camelias”, and “Rite of Spring“; Uwe Scholz, “Rachmaninov Piano Concerto”, “Mozart - The Great Mass”, “Siebte Sinfonie”, “Prokofieve”, and “America “.   

In 2001, Mr. Vassiliev was extended an invitation to join the English National Ballet in London, England. He was a principle in various repertories including; Sleeping Beatty, Swan Lake, Gisell, Nutcracker, Paquita, Chopeniana, La Sylphide, Le Spectre de la Rose, and Flower Festival in Genzano.

In addition, Mr. Vassiliev received invitations to perform around the world as a guest principal dancer. These include: The 14th International Festival in Kazan, Russia- a Celebration of Rudolf Nureyev’s work; Celebration of the Arts Gala- in Verona, Italy; and Evening of Stars Gala- in Tokyo, Japan.

After relocating to the United States, in 2004, Mr. Vassiliev began to work with the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company-Seattle, Washington. The following year, Mr. Vassiliev became Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the National Ballet Academy Denver-Denver, Colorado.

Over the decade of working as the co-founder and Artistic Director of the academy, Mr. Vassiliev established himself as a teacher and choreographer. Eventually, the academy was awarded the Best Teacher Award in Denver, by YAGP in 2008 and 2010. He led his student’s to win top prizes in prestigious competitions such as, YAGP, Denver Ballet Guild Competitions, and International Tanzfestival Berlin- in Berlin, Germany. His student went on to receive invitations and earned contracts to professional companies in the United State and abroad.

Mr. Vassiliev, along with his extensive knowledge and decades of experience, has developed a teaching curriculum, focusing on Vaganova, Balanchine, and English styles of ballet techniques. This high level of exposure provides him with a unique understanding of how to conduct and structure the ballet class. His unique approach to teaching has garnered Mr. Vassiliev invitations to Brazil, Japan, Russia and China as a guest teacher.

Currently, Mr. Vassiliev resides in New York City as the CEO/Founder/Artistic Director of Vassiliev Academy of Classical Ballet.

Latinoamerica Baila is It is a study scholarship program created by Manuel Ruiz, where Mr. Vassiliev has visited many Latin American countries in search of Talents. Today the program is one of the most successful in the world.

He has been named outstanding and honorary figure in Paraguay and in many Argentine provinces through the Program “Latinoamerica Baila” 

Falling Angel is a new show based on the life of Andrei Vassiliev with numerous stars from the world of ballet and the best companies . It had its world premiere on June 29th, 2017, with a success that has led the box office in New York.

Andrei Vassiliev has been invited as an international figure in the tribute to 9/11 to be held in New York in the month of September.
